Update on the Hearings Investigating the Use of the Emergencies Act with Andrew Lawton

<p>The Public Order Emergency Commission hearings, which began in Ottawa on October the 13th, 2022, came to completion in late November.  </p><p><br></p><p>As required by law, the purpose of the Commission was to publicly analyze the events leading to the invocation of the Emergencies Act nationwide earlier this year, ask the question of whether or not the use of the act was justified, and make recommendations for the future.  </p><p><br></p><p>The witness list was impressive, including Prime Minister Justin Trudeau, Freedom Convoy organizer Tamara Lich, as well as many ministers in government ranging from Finance, Public Safety, Emergency Preparedness, and Deputy Prime Minister Chrystia Freeland.  </p><p><br></p><p>The inquiry was streamed online and often ran more than 10 hours each day. One independent news agency that followed the inquiry closely was True North. One of their senior journalists, Andrew Lawton, is with us for this show to discuss the highlights of the inquiry and give his personal reflections.  </p><p><br></p><p>Thanks for joining us.</p><p><br></p><p>_________________________________</p><p><br></p><p><a href="http://faytene.tv" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">Faytene.tv</a> is a listener-supported program.
