<p>This episode of the Korea Now podcast features an interview that Jed Lea-Henry conducted with Sandra Fahy. They speak about the first half of Sandra’s new book ‘Dying for Rights: Putting North Korea’s Human Rights Abuses on the Record’, the nature and scope of the human rights abuses in North Korea, the history of these violations, the impact and responsibility for famine and hunger, religious persecution across the country, the control of information, the control of movement and labour, the system of prison camps, torture and execution, and North Korea’s exportation of human rights violations. This is the first of two podcasts on Sandra’s book, the second will focus on ‘The Denials’.</p> <p>Sandra Fahy completed her doctorate in Anthropology at the School for Oriental and African Studies at the University of London, has held post-doctoral fellowships at the Sejong Society, the University of Southern California, and École des hautes études en sciences socials in Paris. She is currently a visiting fellow at the Human Rights Program at Harvard Law School and an Assistant Professor of Anthropology at Sophia University in Tokyo.
