Rampant Homelessness, ICE Raids & Street Crime Are All Part Of The Plan! w/ Chris Hedges

Jimmy opens the segment by noting that California spent $25 billion on homelessness programs while the crisis worsened, yet $80 billion is being spent by the federal government on ICE and ICE prisons—which he says are not for immigrants (whom the elites want for cheap labor to drive down wages and keep workers fighting each other), but for Americans who will eventually wake up and protest the surveillance state, data centers, and oligarchic control. Jimmy’s guest, author and journalist Chris Hedges, explains that authoritarian regimes create conditions where people beg for their own enslavement, and that concentration camps are never built for those the regime openly admits are the target—they are filled with journalists, artists, writers, and political opponents. Hedges notes that the US holds a quarter of the world's prisoners with less than five percent of the global population, and that ICE has become a paramilitary rogue force beyond the reach of the law, recruiting right-wing militia types with virtually no training—comparable to fascist paramilitaries like Mussolini's black shirts and Hitler's brown shirts. Hedges concludes that the massive expansion of ICE signals the creation of a fascist state, and that the social bonds of dignified work, homeownership, and the common good have been ruptured, leaving coercion as the only remaining means of control.
