To book a place or to make inquiries call Dave or Damo at CAHMA on 6253-3643. </p> <p>-Labor ACT Member of the Legislative Assembly (MLA) <a href='https://canberraweekly.com.au/pettersson-hard-drug-use-a-health-problem-not-criminal-justice-issue/'>Michael Pettersson will introduce a bill in February</a> to make possession of limited amounts of drugs a civil offence, not a criminal one. The possibility of two-year prison sentences would be replaced by fines. </p> <p>- In national news, former Australian Defence Force chief Chris Barrie has given his support to a campaign to increase accessibility of psychedelic drugs for sufferers of mental illness, including MDMA and psilocybin. The use of MDMA for the treatment of PTSD could soon become widespread in the United States. </p> <p>"Drug law reform is desperately needed, yet (NSW Premier) Berejiklian refuses to see reason" is an opinion piece from Harm Reduction Australia.  </p> <p>-We will also discuss a piece by Professor Dan Lubman “A mental disorder, not a personal failure: Why now is the time for Australia to rethink addiction”. </p> <p>-In international news comes “DEA Agents Report Agency’s Lack of Basic COVID-19 Safety Measures”. </p> <p>-The polarising debate
