Kim Kardashian and Floyd Mayweather are being sued for allegedly promoting a crypto scam

<p>In a new class-action lawsuit filed against EthereumMax, Boston Celtics star Paul Pierce is also named as a defendant.</p> <p>According to a new class-action lawsuit filed in California Federal Court, New York resident Ryan Huegerich is suing the company behind the EthereumMax (EMAX) cryptocurrency, as well as the celebrities who backed it, for pushing a "pump-and-dump scam." He claims to be acting on behalf of everyone who purchased EMAX coins, also known as ERC-20 tokens, between May 14 and June 27, 2021.</p> <p>Huegerich has not disclosed how much money he spent on EMAX, but he claims to have "suffered investment losses as a result of Defendants' conduct." Kim Kardashian, Floyd Mayweather, and former Boston Celtics star Paul Pierce are among those accused of "unjust enrichment" from "aiding and abetting" EMAX. According to the complaint, Huegerich claims their actions violate California's Unfair Competition Law, which prohibits "any unlawful, unfair, or fraudulent business act or practise," as well as California's Consumers Legal Remedies Act. Representatives for Huegerich, EMAX, Mayweather, and Pierce did not immediately respond to requests for comment from Rolling Stone. Kardashian's representative declined to comment.</p> <p>The problems appear to have begun less than two weeks after EMAX went live on May 14. Pierce, who had recently been fired from his job as an ESPN analyst after posting a stripper-filled video on Instagram, publicly positioned EMAX as his saviour during a difficult time. "I don't require you. "I got @ethereum max," he tweeted on May 26, adding that becoming his own boss had "set me free." "I've made more money with this cryptocurrency in the last month than I have with you in a year."</p> <p>On the same day, EMAX announced that it was the "exclusive cryptocurrency" for purchasing tickets to the then-upcoming boxing match between Floyd Mayweather and Logan Paul, which was scheduled for June 6. The company provided a link to a fight website that listed a variety of perks for purchas
