The case of Ahmaud Arbery has prompted outrage recently as his murderers - two men seen on video - killed this 25 year old Black male and were not arrested for more than two months. Miami's Hot 105's FM Shelby Rushin and Big Lip addressed this matter on live radio to check-in with the community and help people process such an unfortunate event. I was asked to opine on the state of mental health in the Black community, including during COVID-19. Listen as I discuss racial stress and minority traumas that are pervasive in our Black communities resulting in Black people suffering 20% more than White communities from serious, psychological distress. We have more cases of debilitating, persistent, resistant depressive episodes and most likely, undiagnosed PTSD or Post Traumatic Stress Disorder along with other undiagnosed mental health problems.
--- Send in a voice message: https://anchor.fm/brainlove/message Support this podcast: https://anchor.fm/brainlove/support
