GBW #10: Kink Shame (Crash [1996] / Fifty Shades of Grey / Night Killer)

<p>Hello, and welcome to another episode of The Good, The Bad, and The What!? The show in which we discuss three films that we have deemed "good," "bad," or "what!?" within a subgenre, theme, motif, director or actor's filmography, and more!</p> <p>On this week's episode, we tackle psychosexual dramas, specifically ones that cross that taboo line between sexuality and violence. We start with <strong>David Cronenberg</strong>'s 1996 dark odyssey "<strong>Crash</strong>," adapted from the <strong>J.G. Ballard</strong> novel and stars <strong>James Spader</strong> as a fictionalized version of the author who discovers an underground subculture of people who get off on car crashes. We then pivot to the 2015 adaptation of worldwide bestseller "<strong>Fifty Shades of Grey</strong>," and remark how it's even more clinical and less sexy than the deliberateness of "Crash."
