<p>I just thought of something else that's no longer mentioned in the briefing meeting [Who's mask first?]</p> <p><br> <br> We're on a mission to help one million people RISE by 2030 - join the movement at <a href="http://www.myrise.co.uk/" rel="nofollow" target="_blank">www.myrise.co.uk</a></p> <p><br></p> <p>A couple of weeks ago, I did a couple of blogs about things that I mentioned at the monthly briefing meetings that we used to run.</p> <p>I thought of another the other day.</p> <p>It was an image of a member of the cabin crew on a plane, demonstrating the application of an oxygen mask.</p> <p>We asked those in attendance who the crew advised you to apply the mask first to in the “unlikely event of an emergency”.</p> <p>Most people correctly said that they advised applying your own mask first.</p> <p>Why?</p> <p>Because if we’re passing out (or dead) then we’re no good to anyone else.</p> <p>We help more people by helping ourselves first.</p> <p>Not less.</p> <p>We get that.</p> <p>We accept it.</p> <p>But we don’t always do it in other areas of our lives.</p> <p>It’s easy for the needs of everyone else to get in the way of our own.</p> <p>Other halves and kids.</p> <p>Employers, employees, colleagues, etc.</p> <p>Friends, family members and others.</p> <p>Before we know it, years have passed where we’ve been putting others first.</p> <p>And our own health, fitness, energy levels and mood have suffered.</p> <p>We get it.</p> <p>But, like with the application of an oxygen mask, looking after ourselves is actually the least selfish thing we can do.</p> <p>Doing the things that give us more energy, enthusiasm, endurance and patience and better mood………</p> <p>Mean we can better support those around us.</p> <p>Helping them more.</p> <p>Not less.</p> <p>We can only serve other people to the level that we serve ourselves.</p> <p>Counter intuitive as it can sound, we serve those in our lives that we care about more…….</p> <p>By serving ourselves first.</p> <p><br></p> <p>Much love,</p> <p>Jon ‘Masked Dancer’ Hall</
