Clare HSE Nursing Home Residents Paying €700 More Than Private And Voluntary Counterparts

Clare residents in HSE nursing homes are paying €762 more in fees than those in private and voluntary nursing homes admist a growing cost of care crisis. Under the Fair Deal Scheme, fees in HSE nursing homes in Clare increased by an average of €107 from January 2022 to 2023, according to HSE figures. Nursing Homes Ireland says over 20 nursing homes have closed nationwide in the last year due to what the organisation has described as a "funding crisis". Its CEO, Tadhg Daly, has warned that further fee increases could lead to more closures.
