27.15: 1 Samuel 1: Giving Up a Son to the Service of God

<p>We’ve gone through the first <a href="https://giselleaguiar.com/special-in-depth-studies/" rel="noreferrer noopener" target="_blank">8 books of the Bible in the Old Testament</a>. In case you didn’t know, the Old Testament Books are not in chronological order. For instance, according to the site, <a href="https://biblehub.com/timeline/#ot" rel="noreferrer noopener" target="_blank">Bible Timeline</a>, &nbsp;the story of Ruth takes place circa 1140 BC, right after the story of &nbsp;Gideon. Whoever put the Bible as we know it together would have to have &nbsp;stuck Ruth’s love story in between Gideon and Abimelech and would ruin &nbsp;the overall theme of the Book of Judges.</p> <p>Nevertheless, today, I’m starting a different way of going through the Old Testament — in historical sequence. If you look at <a href="https://biblehub.com/timeline/#ot" rel="noreferrer noopener" target="_blank">Bible Timeline</a>, you’ll see that Samuel is born during the time of <a href="https://giselleaguiar.com/the-book-of-judges-bible-study/" rel="noreferrer noopener" target="_blank">Judges</a> 11-16, circa 1100 BC.</p> <p>First we meet Samuel’s mom, Hannah. She’s suffering because she is &nbsp;childless. It’s her fervent prayer and vow to God that makes this story &nbsp;special. Look for hints of Jesus, the Messiah — Yeshua Ha-Mashiach — in &nbsp;this story.
