Before the hits, he worked as a disc jockey at radio stations in Texas and the Pacific Northwest while simultaneously honing his song writing and singing skills with songs like "Funny How Time Slips Away", "Hello Walls" and "Crazy". He has recorded. 97 studio albums, has acted in over 30 movies, co-authored several books and is also known for his activism for the use of biofuels and the legalization of marijuana.</p>
