Nice Rain Before 5-day Period of Hot & Dry Weather; Next Chances for Rain Will Be Next Tue/Wed & Fri/Sat

<p>The area saw some nice rain yesterday with shortwave trough and front in the northwest flow coming over the top of the de-amplifying ridge that has been over the Rockies since early June.  Today through early next week the upper-level storm track will be in the northern Plains and along the Canadian border, while high-pressure settles over the Tri-state region with westerly down sloping winds warming daytime temperature into the upper 90’s with some excessive 100-degree heat potential Sunday and Monday and elevated fire concerns through the period.  This period of dryness prolongs our dry summer and the moderate drought returning to the area last week will likely worsen even with yesterday’s shot of moisture.  The next shortwave trough and front predicted by current weather models moves through late Monday or more likely Tuesday with the next shot for rain. </p>
