Deskripsi
During the month of May, National Alliance on Mental Illness-New York State (NAMI-NYS) joins the national movement to raise awareness about mental health. They offer many education and awareness activities with a wide range of options taking place both virtually and in person. Amanda McDowell, NAMI-NYS Event Coordinator, and Matthew Shapiro, NAMI-NYS Director of Public Affairs, came onto Hudson Mohawk Magazine to talk about their work and programming with correspondent Sarah Abraham. Their website is: https://www.naminys.org For those seeking mental health resources: • If you are in immediate crisis, call or text: National Suicide Prevention Hotline: (800) 273-8255, or Crisis Text Line: 741741 • NAMI Helpline (NY only): (518) 588-6149 – This is a Warm Line, rather than a Hotline, meaning that if you are in crisis, you should call/text the numbers above. The NAMI Helpline is staffed by volunteers and is a great place to call for assistance with resources. It's not staffed 24 hours a day, but feel free to leave a message and someone will return your call as soon as they can. • For access to information about programs, resources, education, and advocacy across the state: naminys.org • For similar local information from our affiliate, NAMI Capital Region: namicapitalregionny.org • Upcoming Events for May and a link to register: https://myemail.constantcontact.com/Register-Now--May-is-Mental-Health-Awareness-Month.html?soid=1110032941273&aid=kEpMdiNN6vM
