Episode 36: Habits: how to build better ones, break bad ones and stay consistent over time
Ahmed Salah Farahat
Deskripsi
Consistency is key… but why is it so hard to actually stay consistent with different habits? Why is breaking a bad habit so hard to do? This episode is all about the how, why and what of habits- those automatic behaviours that you may not even realise you’re doing that make up the bulk of your day, every day. As always, you’ll hear both the scientific and the practical side of the topic- how habits work in your brain, and how they work in your mind. This episode will give you a better understanding of how your brain and mind work together when it comes to your behaviour, and hopefully some actionable tips for making sure new habits stick and getting out of old, perhaps ‘bad’ habits for good. You’ll hear about the craving-cue-response-reward pattern of habits and how to start engineering them to better fit your goals, and we also touch on Gillian’s new group program that is 100% focused on teaching the structure and method to creating sustainable, value based habits. In the preamble to this episode, we talk a bit about cooking, prepping and some tricks that work really well for ourselves and our clients when it comes to eating well. We discuss the difference between cooking for yourself and cooking for others, and how to start making cooking a bit more enticing, even when you’re cooking for one. You’ll also hear about the infamous chop-chop, which the whole Priestland family eats on a regular basis.
