Akwa Ibom govt pledges to facelift NYSC camp

<p>Akwa Ibom Governor, Pastor Umo Eno, has promised to intervene in giving the orientation camp in the State, a facelift by addressing the challenges confronting the corps members, during their stay in the camp.</p>, <p>He assured corps members that the state government would not shy away from its responsibilities towards their welfare in the camp.</p>, <p>Eno made the promise in his remarks during the official closing ceremony of 2023 Batch ‘B’ stream I corps members at the National Youth Service Orientation Camp, Ikot Itie udung in Nsit Atai Local Government Area on Tuesday.</p>, <p>The governor however cautioned Corps Members serving in the state not to allow divisive tendencies to influence their approach to national issues.</p>, <p>The Governor, who was represented by Mr Emmanuel Akpabio, Director, Youths Development in the Ministry of Youths and Sports, admonished them to guard their minds against negative narratives that will not promote unity and development.</p>, <p>“Distinguished guests, ladies and gentlemen, Nigeria can only become the country of our dream if we do not allow those divisive tendencies to influence our approach to national issues.</p>, <p>“As young Nigerians, I admonish you to guard your minds against negative narratives that will not promote unity and development. As future leaders, I encourage you to have big dreams for yourselves and for the State,” Eno said.</p>, <p>Eno urged the corps members to make a mark in their Community Development Service (CDS) programme during the one year stay in the state.</p>, <p>The governor urged the corps members to endeavour to co-exist mutually with their host communities and refrain from any action that will offend their sensibilities.</p>, <p>Earlier in her address, Mrs Chinyere Ekwe, urged the corps members to build on the skills acquired from the Skills Acquisition and Entrepreneurship Development (SAED) programme to empower themselves and become self reliance.</p>, <p>Ekwe urged corps members posted to their place of primary assignments to be se
