3.10.15: Confessions of a Former Democrat: How Becoming a Born-Again Christian Opened My Eyes to the Truth

<p>What Happened to the Kennedy Democrats?&nbsp;</p> <p>I grew up in New York and my parents were Democrats — <strong>Kennedy Democrats</strong>. &nbsp;So, when I was old enough to vote in my first presidential election, I &nbsp;voted for Jimmy Carter. I voted straight party lines every time. &nbsp;Moreover, I didn’t really look at the candidate — I voted Democrat.</p> <p><strong>I voted for Bill Clinton.</strong> Living in Miami at the &nbsp;time, I remember my boss and I joyously watching the inauguration in her &nbsp;office. We sang along with “Don’t stop thinking about tomorrow…”. I was &nbsp;saddened and astonished when the whole Monica Lewinski scandal erupted. &nbsp;That couldn’t be <em>my president!</em></p> <p><strong>I called myself a die-hard Democrat.</strong> I even voted &nbsp;for John Kerry even though I didn’t like him at all.
