Her first feature documentary Tibet’s Cry for Freedom premiered in competition at international film festivals before being acquired by Czech Television and TV NZ. In 2019, Lara wrote, produced and directed “A Place to Call Home” which was licenced by ABC’s Compass and was one of the highest-rating episodes in its first broadcast season. Lara directed, produced and edited the 2020 short film “Little Bang’s New Eye” (SBS) which won Awards in the Impact Docs, Indy Film Festival, INDIE Film Fest, Docs Without Borders and the GINDIE Film Festival. Lara has worked around the world as a documentary filmmaker with government departments, NGOs and international development and humanitarian organisations in the Solomon Islands, Bougainville, Vietnam, Vanuatu, Timor-Leste, Tibet, India, Bangladesh, India and many more. She’s a passionate, community-minded agent for social change who believes deeply in the power of film and media to create a deep and lasting impact that can help drive the change needed to make our world a better place.
