#RamadanCountdown Question: How to instill the Love of Ramadan in Our Children 🌙 Ramadan is more than just leaving food and drink behind; it’s about instilling a deeper understanding of the month’s true meaning in the hearts of our children. Imam al-Ghazali talks about three levels of fasting, with the first being just food and drink. While that’s the initial concept many children grasp, they are capable of understanding so much more. Even young hearts can learn about the fasting of the heart—the fast that goes beyond physical hunger. We can teach them that Ramadan is not just about charity but about actively feeling the struggle to give and contribute. Whether it’s through making something with their hands or learning to give time and energy, children can experience the true spirit of charity, not just the monetary act. For some kids, giving away money might be easy, but for others, it’s about stepping outside of their comfort zone. We can also teach them about curbing distractions. This doesn’t mean replacing everything with Quranic study, but perhaps reducing extra playtime or cutting back on non-productive activities, and replacing them with moments of remembrance of Allah, dhikr, or even learning nasheeds together. Never underestimate their ability to understand the deeper concepts of Ramadan. Children often have purer hearts and a generosity that sometimes surpasses our own as adults. Let’s give them the tools to grow spiritually in a way that resonates with them. 🌿 #ramadancountdown
