NIGERIA: Geng Quangrong, Accused Of Killing Lover Arraigned In Kano

A Kano state High Court presided over by Justice Sanusi Ma’aji has adjourned the arraignment of Chinese national, Geng Quangrong, who is accused of killing his 23-year old lover, Ummukulthum Buhari (Ummita). <br /><br />The Court, presided by Justice Sanusi Ado Ma’aji, fixed 4th October 2022 to formally arraign the Chinese.<br /><br />When the case resumed on Thursday for arraignment, Mr Quarong sought an adjournment to enable him to contact his counsel to represent him.<br /><br />In his response, Kano State Attorney General Barrister Musa Abdullahi Lawan didn’t raise an objection to the defendant’s prayer to adjourn the matter.<br /><br />“Obviously this case cannot go on today without a counsel standing for the defendant, It is capital in nature in the circumstances we apply for a short adjournment,” Kano Attorney General prayed.<br /><br />Therefore, Justice Ma’aji adjourned the case until 4th October 2022 for arraignment.<br /><br /><br />It was reported that, Quangrong on Friday, September 16 invaded the building of the decease after scaling the fence and stabbed Kulthum to death in Kabuga Quarters, Dorayi Babba area of the State.<br /><br /><br />Geng alleged that Ummita had promised to marry him, but later changed her promise after he had spent so much money on her.
