Kilrush TD Says Restoration Of Ennis ED Is Vital For Retention of Nursing Staff

A Clare Independent TD claims the of extension of Medical Assesment and Local Injury Unit services at Ennis, Nenagh & St.John's is only a small first step in tackling the region's overcrowding crisis. The Government have committed to expanding MAU & LIU's at the model two facilities to operate on a 24 hour basis following a private members motion introduced by Scariff Deputy, Michael McNamara on the matter. University Hospital Limerick is so far the second busiest facility in the country this week with the INMO recording 76 patients on trolleys at the Dooradoyle site on Wednesday alone. Kilrush based deputy, Violet Anne Wynne claims the closue of the Ennis Accident & Emergency Department in 2008 has caused an unmitigated local healthcare disaster.
