Gunmen kidnap motorists, passengers on Otukpo-Enugu expressway

<p>Gunmen have reportedly abducted several passengers on the Otukpo – Enugu expressway, along Olanyega/Ogbodo road in Okpokwu Local Government Area of Benue State.</p>, <p>It was gathered that the the incident occurred at about 2:30 pm on Sunday.</p>, <p>DAILY POST learnt that the incident caused panic among motorists plying that section of the expressway, which is a notorious spot for armed robbery attacks.</p>, <p>The gunmen went away with several passengers and motorists as five vehicles, including a bus belonging to the state owned Benue Links, were emptied of their occupants.</p>, <p>It was learnt that soldiers at a military checkpoint on the expressway trailed the assailants after the incident.</p>, <p>An eyewitness, Edumoga National President, Chief John Onoja, who narrowly escaped the incident, disclosed that several passengers were abducted.</p>, <p>The Olanyega/Ogbodo spot on the Otukpo-Enugu expressway has over time become unsafe for commuters and passengers.</p>, <p>When contacted, the spokesperson of the Benue State Police Command, SP Catherine Anekwe, confirmed the incident, adding that it is being investigated.</p>
