The manager of an Ennis delicatessen claims small businesses have been "hit badly" by energy costs in recent times. It comes as Taoiseach Leo Varadkar has confirmed that households and small businesses will receive energy supports in the upcoming budget through proceeds from the Energy Windfall Tax. Since the outbreak of the war in Ukraine, the government has brought in four €200 energy credits, reduced VAT on gas and electricity bills and expanded the Fuel Allowance Scheme. Fionn McGuinness, manager of the Food Emporium Ennis, is hopeful small businesses with soaring energy costs will be granted assistance in the budget.
