<p>"I'll cover your mistakes" ["You cover your choices"]</p> <p><br></p> <p>We're on a mission to help one million people RISE by 2030 - join the movement at <a href="http://www.myrise.co.uk/" rel="nofollow" target="_blank">www.myrise.co.uk</a></p> <p><br></p> <p>During the last (hopefully) Lockdown, I came into the club one day and noticed a large crack on one of the mirrors.</p> <p>I posted in the staff group to see if anyone knew what had happened.</p> <p>And we soon figured it out.</p> <p>One of Coach Claire’s sons had backed into it when in with her.</p> <p>It, of course, had to be replaced.</p> <p>Both from an aesthetic and a safety perspective.</p> <p>I said to Claire at the time that we’d get it done and have a chat about what to do about the cost.</p> <p>Having had a little think, I decided the business would cover it.</p> <p>That’s what I’d do if a member had caught it during a session.</p> <p>And this is was only marginally different.</p> <p>I was saying this to Claire and we agreed it was “learning opportunity” for her son.</p> <p>And I remembered something I’ve been saying to my boys recently.</p> <p>Jamie, my middle son, keeps trying to carry too many things in his hands on the way to the car.</p> <p>And, invariably, drops some on the way.</p> <p>He’s cracked a couple of iPad screens this way.</p> <p>The first, I paid to be fixed.</p> <p>The second he had to cover.</p> <p>The first was a mistake.</p> <p>I tell my kids “I’m happy to cover your mistakes. You cover your choices”.</p> <p>Because a mistake repeated is a choice.</p> <p>If we do the same thing the same way as last time and it leads to the same result, we can’t call it a mistake.</p> <p>It was a choice.</p> <p>We can’t say “It was an accident”.</p> <p>It was a choice.</p> <p>Or “I didn’t mean to” or “I messed up”.</p> <p>It was a choice.</p> <p>And remembering that is powerful.</p> <p>It helps us learn from those mistakes.</p> <p>And realise when we’re just making a choice that we’re OK with.</p> <p>When we miss a workout for reasons that h
