Calls For Francis Street Cottages To Be Used As Disability And Acquired Brain Injury Accommodation

A Shannon-based councillor has emphasised the importance of appropriate accommodation being allocated to people with acquired brain injuries or disabilities. Following a meeting with the Head of Services in Clare for Acquired Brain Injury, Shannon Councillor Gerry Flynn has asked Clare County Council prioritise the development of small and specifically constructed housing for people with acquired brain injuries or disabilties who wish to live independently. The local authority has confirmed that in the first three months of the year, 12 housing units were allocated those with disabled which represents 28% of its total allocation. Independent Councillor Flynn says housing allocated to those with acquired brain injuries or other disabilities must be small and suitably adapted.
