2026 WCQ: Zimbabwe players shelve strike, return to training ahead battle with Nigeria

<p>Zimbabwe players retuned to training on Friday (today) after shelving their one-day strike.</p>, <p>The players refused to train on Thursday as they protested the non-payment of their bonuses, allowances and appearance fees.</p>, <p>The Warriors held Rwanda to a 0-0 draw in their 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifying opening fixture on Wednesday.</p>, <p>They also demanded a bonus from the game even though the Zimbabwe Football Association (ZiFA) only made provision for a winning bonus.</p>, <p>According to the Herald, ZiFA had to run around to ensure they deposited the money into the players’ accounts late yesterday to avert another stand-off ahead of a big match against Nigeria.</p>, <p>Baltemar Brito’s side will host the Super Eagles at the Huye Stadium, Butare, on Sunday.</p>
