Living the Gospel–Pete Gilmore–Mirror of Me (Pete has been thinking about the time John the Baptist’s disciples come and ask Jesus “are you really the Messiah?” In response Jesus points them to everything that has been happening, the miracles, healings, and all the other signs and wonders and yet the Pharisees, other leaders, and many of the people of the day wouldn’t accept Jesus because he didn’t measure up to their expectations of the Messiah. Pete asks, are we the same, constantly looking for a saviour but expecting him to be a mirror of myself? A saviour who won’t challenge me? But the real Jesus is always more confronting, more loving, merciful, and good than we are, even on our best day. It’s in understanding and accepting Jesus’s love that gives us the freedom to live life to the full.)
