The PARADOX OF AMERICAN WOMEN’S UNHAPPINESS

<p>“By&nbsp;many&nbsp;objective&nbsp;measures&nbsp;the&nbsp;lives&nbsp;of&nbsp;women&nbsp;in&nbsp;the&nbsp;United&nbsp;States&nbsp;have&nbsp;improved&nbsp;over&nbsp;the&nbsp; past&nbsp;35&nbsp;years,&nbsp;yet&nbsp;we&nbsp;show&nbsp;that&nbsp;measures&nbsp;of&nbsp;subjective&nbsp;well‐being&nbsp;indicate&nbsp;that&nbsp;women’s&nbsp;happiness&nbsp; has&nbsp;declined&nbsp;both&nbsp;absolutely&nbsp;and&nbsp;relative&nbsp;to&nbsp;men.” This is the opening line of a Yale study conducted by Betsey Stevenson and Justin Wolfers. In this episode, we make the final and missing connection between why feminism has eroded women and the declining happiness rates of American women. We leave it with the unpopular suggestion, that MAYBE!
