<p>In this interview with  Professor David Smith on advancing gender equity in the workplace through allyship and mentorship:</p><ul><li>Professor David Smith shares insights from his books &quot;Athena Rising&quot; and &quot;Good Guys&quot; on the critical role men can play as allies and mentors in supporting women&apos;s leadership.</li><li>The interview discusses the challenges and opportunities for men to advance gender equity in the workplace and highlights the three steps to effective allyship.</li><li>The obstacles women face in attaining and being perceived as effective leaders are explored, and caregiving is identified as a leadership issue that affects both men and women.</li><li>Professor Smith emphasizes the importance of taking allyship and advocacy into our homes and communities beyond the workplace.</li><li>This conversation offers a safe space to explore, understand, and take action towards gender equity.</li></ul><p><br/></p><p>David Smith, PhD, is co-author of the book, Good Guys: How Men Can Be Better Allies for Women in the Workplace and an Associate Professor at the Johns Hopkins Carey Business School. As a sociologist trained in military sociology and social psychology, he focuses his research in gender, work, and family issues including allyship, inclusive mentorship and sponsorship, gender bias in performance evaluations, and dual career families.
