On Mahmoud Darwish with Jeff Sacks and Fady Joudah

<p>Collective member David Lloyd sits down with Professor Jeff Sacks and Poet Fady Joudah to speak about famous Palestinian poet Mahmoud Darwish.</p> <p>Fady Joudah has published three poetry collection and four of poetry in translation. He has received the Yale Series, a Guggenheim Fellowship, the Griffin Poetry Prize for his work. Textu is his most recent poetry collection and A Map of Signs and Scents, the selected poems of Amjad Nasser, is his latest translation work. He is the translator of a volume of poems by Mahmoud Darwish, The Butterfly's Burden (Copper Canyon, 2007).&nbsp;</p> <p>Jeff Sacks is a writer, translator, and scholar; he is Associate Professor of Arabic and Comparative Literature at the University of California, Riverside, and the author of Iterations of Loss: Mutilation and Aesthetic Form, al-Shidyaq to Darwish (Fordham UP, 2015). He has translated a volume of poetry by Mahmoud Darwish, Why Did You Leave the Horse Alone? (Archipelago, 2006), and is presently writing a book, Simplicities: A Colonial Archive, about the history of the word &amp;quot;simple&amp;quot;; a second book, For Decolonization, about the lyric poem and the question of Palestine; and a volume of poetry, called Second Name.</p> <p>SWANA Region Radio collective member, David Lloyd is Distinguished Professor &nbsp;of English at the University of California, Riverside, and a founding &nbsp;member of the US Campaign for the Academic and Cultural Boycott of &nbsp;Israel.
