Jehoshaphat's National Prayer Meeting - Facing the Sovereign God Part 2

Now, more than ever, we are called to pray as a nation. In 2 Chronicles 20:1-25, as the threat of enemy armies surrounded Judah, King Jehoshaphat declared a nation-wide fast all over the country. The people left their homes and came to Jerusalem, and they gathered as one to seek God. The king stood in the great assembly and spoke his prayer aloud, before all of Judah. Then the Spirit of the Lord came upon a man named Jahaziel, and said, "Do not fear or be dismayed because of this great multitude, for the battle is not yours but God’s..." The Lord answered their prayer and promised victory in His name. Humbled, all of Judah fell before God, and they worshiped Him and praised Him with a loud voice. The Lord fought in the battle, and the armies destroyed one another in confusion as the people sang His praises. Let us not forget the power of prayer. Let us trust in God and His Word, and let us humble ourselves in prayer and fasting, for we have a great and mighty God, a sovereign God who listens to the prayers of His people.
