Description

This podcaster and entrepreneur has had anything but a typical journey.

Jeanette Tapley is a mom to three, wife to Jesse and part of an ASL speaking family because their daughter, who was adopted from Africa, is deaf.

After being a stay at home mom for years, Jeanette started her podcast to help people. Her clients quite often become her friends. It’s a blessing to be able to bond and connect with clients.

Check out episode 9 for the 5 C’s of personal branding…Jeanette loved this episode.

Jeanette was married at 18. She was in love, knew Jesse was “the one” and was saving herself for marriage. He proposed after the homecoming dance. Sounds crazy, right?

In Alaska, where Jeanette grew up it was more common for people to get married young. She looks back at it now and laughs because there was no in-between. She was so young and skipped a huge transformative time in her life.

So why did she marry so young? She was saving herself for marriage and the sooner she got married the sooner she could have sex! Insert laughter…there was a lot of it during this episode.

Jeanette and Jessie have had to grow up together and have had to put in a lot of work to make the marriage a success. They’ve both had to sacrifice but have also found common ground and been supportive of each other to engage with their own friends.

Marriage is one of the hardest jobs and it’s similar to entrepreneurship because it takes a lot of grit and work to be successful at it.

I asked Jeanette about how she is communicating with her kids so that they aren’t jumping into relationships so young and before they are really ready. Jeanette’s theory is that it’s important for them to learn how to date, how to treat others and how learn how they themselves want to be treated.

It’s about finding a balance and teaching the kids that they have control over their body, but guiding them to remember that their body is also the Lords so they have to be respectful of it
