Govs fight their successors immediately they resume office — Akpabio

<p>Senate President Godswill Akpabio lamented on Wednesday that Governors in Nigeria often engage in conflicts with their successors immediately after assuming office.</p>, <p>Akpabio, who spoke at the 60th birthday anniversary lecture and book presentation of Senate leader, Michael Opeyemi Bamidele, in Abuja, applauded the celebrant for his loyalty to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for over 30 years when he served as an aide to him in the National Assembly in 1992.</p>, <p>Senator Akpabio expressed displeasure with the attitude of some governors towards their successors, stating that there is no former governor who has not had issues with his successor.</p>, <p>He cited the examples of Senator Adams Oshiomole, Senator Adamu Ailero, and the issue in Ekiti state with Abiodun Oyebamiji.</p>, <p>“The Governor of Ekiti state is a great example of what leadership should be. He has remained steadfast. As a Governor, the moment you hand over power to your successor, he will turn on you, either his taste will change or his attitude.</p>, <p>There is no governor in Nigeria who has no problem with their successor apart from the Ekiti governor.
