Civil service restructuring: Cooperate with government, Ayorinde appeals to Oyo workers

<p>A member of the Oyo State Advisory Council, Chief Bolaji Ayorinde (SAN), has pleaded with workers’ unions in Oyo State to give full support and assistance to the state government towards achieving desirable results.</p>, <p>Ayorinde, who was the 2019 Oyo state gubernatorial candidate under SDP, said on Monday that Governor Seyi Makinde meant well for the people of Oyo state. He added that the ongoing state Public/Civil service restructuring was aimed at evolving a more efficient system of public service delivery to the citizenry.</p>, <p>According to him, the ongoing certificate verification exercise, which covered every nook and cranny of the public service in the state, is not meant to witch-hunt anybody but to sanitize the system and restore the state to its lost glory.</p>, <p>Ayorinde, who is the Agba Ofin of Ibadan land, appealed for mutual understanding between the unions and the government, especially during this period of recession, which has brought a lot of challenges to both the state and the country.</p>, <p>He urged the workers to always embrace dialogue and get facts and figures before engaging the government in any negotiation to meet their demands.</p>, <p>Ayorinde recalled that Governor Seyi Makinde had during a state broadcast rolled out palliative measures to alleviate the effects of the removal of fuel subsidy and the resultant economic effect on the people of Oyo state.</p>, <p>In the broadcast, the governor said the state government’s plans had always been to roll out sustainable actions in keeping with the promise of sustainable development under Omituntun 2.0.</p>, <p>Governor Makinde said after wide consultation, “We have arrived at decisions that we believe will be of the most benefit to the good people of Oyo state.
