China hopes Sri Lanka restores social stability, spokesperson

Chinese authorities have called on all stakeholders in Sri Lanka to act in the fundamental interests of the country and its people. Sri Lanka's president has officially informed the prime minister about his resignation as previously announced. It comes after protesters stormed the presidential palace and the prime minister's residence.
