<p>An Evening of Real-Life Stories about Social Justice in Minneapolis</p><p>[Minneapolis, MN] – Hennepin History Museum and the Minneapolis Interview Project<br>present an evening of real-life stories about social justice in Minneapolis on Thursday,<br>September 14, from 6 to 8 pm at The Capri Theater, 2027 West Broadway, Minneapolis, MN,<br>55411. The Minneapolis Interview Project was started in 2016 as a labor of love by Southside<br>resident Anne Winkler-Morey, who set her sights on obtaining one-hundred life-stories that<br>revealed “hidden histories of inequality and the struggle for social justice in Minneapolis.”<br>Ms. Winkler-Morey and many of the individuals she interviewed will read from their interview<br>transcripts, and a portion of the evening’s program will honor those participants who have passed<br>away since contributing their interviews. The program will also feature photographs by<br>Minneapolis-based artist, photographer, and teacher, Eric Mueller, who joined the project in<br>2019, volunteering his expertise to photograph interviewees in locations that are important to<br>them. There will be opportunities for questions and conversation with the audience.<br>Anne Winkler-Morey is an historian, educator, and activist scholar studying and participating in<br>social movements since the 1980s and is the author of Allegiance to Winds and Waters:<br>Bicycling the Political Divides of the United States. To date, she has interviewed 92 people<br>who have lived, worked, engaged institutions, and/or worked on grassroots campaigns in<br>Minneapolis. Their stories are actual personal experiences with dates and locations of public<br>events corroborated by Winker-Morey. She sought out different and sometimes opposing<br>perspectives to give insight into equality and the struggle for social justice in Minneapolis,<br>interviewing people of different ages, races, genders, economic classes, migration experiences,<br>as well as from different areas of Minneapolis.
