210.8: 1 Kings 18: The Battle of the Prophets - Who Really is the More Powerful God?

<p>Showdown time! It’s the 3rd year of the drought &nbsp;in the northern kingdom of Israel. The Demonic Duo, Ahab and Jezebel, &nbsp;managed to turn the Israelites away from the true God and got them to &nbsp;worship the worthless, fake god, Baal. Now, Baal was supposedly the god &nbsp;of the sky. So, he was in charge of the rain. The prophets of Baal had &nbsp;been trying for 3 years to get it to rain, to no avail. That’s what &nbsp;happens when you pray to things that don’t exist — NOTHING.</p> <p>Enter God’s prophet. Elijah, as we read in<a href="https://giselleaguiar.com/2021/10/07/1-kings-17-meet-elijah-a-prophet-of-god-and-miracle-worker/" rel="noreferrer noopener" target="_blank"> yesterday’s chapter</a>, raised a boy from the dead in the <strong>1st recorded resurrection in the Bible</strong>! Jesus would later raise several people from the dead, <a href="https://giselleaguiar.com/2021/02/11/rise-up-sleeper-jesus-is-calling-for-you-can-you-hear-him/" rel="noreferrer noopener" target="_blank">including his friend Lazarus</a>. Likewise, God raised <a href="https://giselleaguiar.com/2020/04/12/a-walk-through-holy-week-resurrection-sunday-jesus-lives/" rel="noreferrer noopener" target="_blank">Jesus from the dead to leave an empty tomb and conquer death once and for all!</a></p> <p>Today, in one of the best Bible stories, Elijah puts the false god, Baal, to the test.
