Description

Today I am launching the first of three episodes in a special series of podcasts with Tara Humphrey! Tara is the founder and managing director of THC Primary Care which was set up initially in 2015. She has 20 years of experience in business development and operations management covering the public and private sector and has an MBA in Leadership and Management in Health Care. Tara is passionate about helping people and giving them the tools, time and support to develop their ideas and bring them to fruition.

Tara and I met through instagram when I first started my podcast. Soon after connecting, she lauched The Business of Healthcare Scholaship Scheme which I applied for and was granted mentoring. At the time of mentoring, I was making some big decisions in my career as my 12-month contract with the Evelina London Children's Hospital (ELCH) was coming to a close. Through mentoring, I was given the right advice and encouragement to apply for a permenant role with ELCH and got the job!

Building on the success of the 2020 scholarship programme, Tara and her team have launched the Business of Healthcare Academy, where this year, they have facilitated a mentorship programme created to support healthcare professionals from ethnically diverse backgrounds to pursue their leadership careers AND provided a £10k grant to deliver an initiative this winter that addresses an ethnic health and care inequality. This year I have taken part in this scheme as a mentor rather than a mentee! It has been a rewarding experience outside of my day-to-day work life and the connection I have made has turned into a great friendship with a fellow pharmacist.

I reached out to Tara to share her insight on elements of team working, project management and goal setting that are relatable to any pharmacis
