The opener “Love to Bounce” masterfully brings the noise with a fusion of insistent conga loops, off-beat handclaps and big room house pressure, guaranteed to keep the floor bouncing at that all-important moment when it’s burning hot, and the thought occurs that hits every dj at one time or another: 'whatthe fuck do i play now?!' ...this may be the tune you need! Then the title track does all the right things in the right places, driven not unsurprisingly by a drum and percussion groove whose sole purpose in life is to get you moving. mike genius shows he’s adept in his field with a rich range of references and inspirations that clearly place this ep in the front line of the here and now crew; he even makes whistles sound modern! Ofra Beat is a slice of dancefloor damage wrapped in seductive percussion and a touch of soul vocal samples, which always works when done well, and here it’s done excellently. right on for the new wave of djs and producers who have freed themselves of genre and whose hearts are set on a full dance floor, every which way! Dezember takes off in a completely different direction, blending space melodies, deep tech and progressive soundscapes and some bottom-heavy electro, all on top of a rolling drum loop that more than qualifies it for inclusion in the vibe of this release, whilst boldly going where no samba house has gone before.
