UCL: He’s one of England’s best ever defenders – Kane defends Maguire

<p>Bayern Munich striker, Harry Kane has fervently defended Manchester United defender, Harry Maguire, calling him ‘one of the best defenders in England’s history’.</p>, <p>Kane said this in a pre-match press conference ahead of Bayern Munich’s Champions League clash with Man United on Wednesday.</p>, <p>Maguire has been under intense scrutiny in recent months, having struggled for form and game time at club level.</p>, <p>The 30-year-old was recently stripped off of the Man United captaincy over the summer.</p>, <p>“I think Harry Maguire has come under some unnecessary scrutiny,” Kane said.</p>, <p>“He has probably been scapegoated a bit. He is a really good friend of mine, a great guy and a really hard working professional.</p>, <p>“He has been one of England’s best defenders over recent times and in England’s history.”</p>, <p>He added, “It is part of football, you are scrutinised. Knowing him, he will just want to work hard and improve. We are fully behind him as a national team.”</p>
