The rights of incarcerated transgender New Yorkers

April 1, 2022 - A lawsuit filed against the operators of the Broome County jail by a transgender woman underscores the need for a new law expressly spelling out how transgender New Yorkers should be treated when incarcerated, according to attorneys for the plaintiff.
