GBW #21: Basketball Jones (He Got Game / Simon Sez / Conan the Destroyer)

<p>Hello, and welcome to another episode of The Good, The Bad, and The What!? The show in which we discuss three films that we have deemed "good," "bad," or "what!?" within a subgenre, theme, motif, director or actor's filmography, and more!</p> <p>On this week's episode, to coincide with "<strong>Space Jam: A New Legacy</strong>" (it's here, whether we like it or not), Ryan and Chris dive into starring roles - or significant supporting roles - of NBA stars. We start with <strong>Spike Lee</strong>'s "<strong>He Got Game</strong>," a unique film in the canon of sports films being both a love-letter to basketball but also extremely critical of the business politics of the sport. More importantly, matching <strong>Denzel Washington</strong> is <strong>Ray Allen</strong>, who sets the high bar for an athlete-turned-actor. On the other end of the spectrum is 1999's "<strong>Simon Sez</strong>," a vanity project for <strong>Dennis Rodman</strong> who, while one of the best rebounders to ever play the sport, couldn't save this dud.
