It's claimed the substantial rise in Clare's population, outlined in the census, highlights the need for improved health services in the county. The number of people residing in the county has jumped by 8% increase since 2016 to 127,938 people. The census figures also show the number of people aged 65 or over in the county has risen by 23% since the last survey, which led to calls for health services in the region to be ramped up. Clare Labour Chair, Denis Vaughan insists greater investment in Ennis Hospital and UHL is needed in order to cater for the needs of the county's growing population in the future.
