#74 Mary Jenkins was a single Mom when she got the diagnosis that she had stage 3...almost stage 4 breast cancer. To say that she didn't see it coming was an understatement. It completely rocked her world and sent her into the fight of her life. Here she was a single mother, sole income earner fighting this incredible battle with no additional financial support. Imagine fighting for your life while still having to go to work every day to earn enough money to pay for every day living expenses. As a result of the complete carnage of chemotherapy, Mary made the difficult choice to quite work and focus on her health and healing. In her mind, the job was a secondary concern and she thought she would be eligible for other financial assistance. Mary Jenkins soon realize that there was no insurance, no company, no organization that would help people that were going through cancer cover their normal every day living expenses. If an organization provided benefits, it was meager at best and only a "once in your life" benefit. As you will hear as you listen, Mary is a fighter and she doesn't take NO for an answer and she decided that it was time to start her own organization to help people fighting cancer pay for everyday living expenses.
