60 Seconds for Wednesdays on Whidbey: Telephone Booths and the Old Ways

<p>Hello to you listening in <a href="https://www.phenomenalglobe.com/tainan-3-day-itinerary/ " target="_blank">Tainan, Taiwan</a>!</p><p>Coming to you from Whidbey Island, Washington this is 60 Seconds for Wednesdays on Whidbey.  </p><p>Recently my friend and colleague David E. Marlowe was reminiscing about change, what’s changed, how much has changed, and who we’ve become amidst the change. I mentioned that here on Whidbey time has not stood still quite so much as it continues to maintain some of the old ways.</p><p>Case in point. Not too very far from where I live there are three telephone booths. One is on <a href="https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sbA6qtkUw6c" target="_blank">Route 525</a>, a 2 lane highway, near Classic Road. The other is over at <a href="https://parks.state.wa.us/585/South-Whidbey" target="_blank">South Whidbey State Park</a>. And a third is in the parking lot at the <a href="https://www.greenbankstore.com/" target="_blank">Greenbank Pantry and Deli</a>. All clean and in good working order.</p><p>I mention this because one of the many things that endears me to my adopted home is keeping some of the old ways. And the older I get the happier I am to see something familiar, something from the past.
