Why are there more Covid deaths in Summer 2021 than in Summer 2020?

<p>It is a curious situation. Last summer, without any vaccines, deaths from Covid fell to the floor and stayed there for 3 months. (Source - UK Government). This summer, with vaccines, deaths are spiralling upwards. Why?</p>
