SUNDAY SERMON - How Pietism & Gnosticism Castrated American Evangelicalism

<p>Israel&#39;s former leader, Moses (who was a type of Christ), was dead. Rather than continuing to mourn his death, Israel is commanded to prepare for what is coming next. In three days time, Joshua (who is another type of Christ), would lead Israel (a type of the Church) across the Jordan River (which represented passing through death) and onto “resurrection.” This was not resurrection for the opportunity to rest. That was promised to come later. Instead, this “resurrection” was meant to provide the glorious opportunity for war. The Church in heaven is “triumphant” and at rest. The Church on earth is “militant” and at war.</p>
