The COVID-19 pandemic has injected new energy into scientists’ efforts to restore people’s sense of smell. We speak with Kerri Wall, who lost her sense of smell more than four years ago; Dr. Leigh Sowerby, an assistant professor of otolaryngology at Western University in London, Ont.; and Richard Costanzo, a physiologist and cofounder of the Smell and Taste Disorders Center at Virginia Commonwealth University.
