<p>April is Sex Assault Awareness Month (SAAM) and Child Abuse Awareness Month. &nbsp;Love Pono decided to focus this month’s Talk Tuesday on SAAM with “It Starts with Our Keiki.” As adults, a lot of what we learn and a lot of our behaviors can be traced back to our childhood. &nbsp;Some lessons we learned were intentional but there are some lessons that were unconsciously displayed or the conversations we heard framed our perspectives.&nbsp;</p> <p>&nbsp;Love Pono talks story with our Leeward Hui ʻOhana (student parent support group) on the nuances of parenting and being mindful of the lessons we share with keiki that can shape their body image, perspectives on consent, and understanding who are safe people to trust, and so much more. &nbsp;It is important for us to have deeper conversations with our keiki and recognizing that we need to give our keiki moments where they can make their own decisions. &nbsp;Our podcast dives into why these are important in shaping our keiki to be advocates for themselves and trusting their gut.</p> <p><br></p> <p><br></p>
