This week America experienced an historic assault on democracy including a riotous mob that briefly took over the US Capitol. The President stands accused of inciting that mob to action. Nonetheless, the wheels of democracy did turn, and Joe Biden was officially declared the winner of November’s election and will take office on January 20th. Biden will be joined by 50 Democratic senators, thanks to Tuesday’s run-off elections in Georgia, where the Democrats gained the two seats they needed to take the Senate majority. On Thursday night, President Trump issued a brief statement promising a peaceful transition of power. He is, by all reports, increasingly isolated in the White House. Some of his most ardent supporters have abandoned him – and with just 13 days left in his presidency, he faces multiple calls for his removal. Host Andrew Walworth is joined by Tom Bevan, Carl Cannon and A.B. Stoddard to sort through the week's events on today's RealClearPolitics Takeaway Podcast.
