EP. 132 The Isolation of Achievement: Understanding and Overcoming Loneliness for High-Achieving Black Women

<p>Loneliness is a subjective, unwelcome feeling of lack or loss of companionship. It happens when we have a mismatch between the quantity and quality of social relationships we have and those we want.</p> <p>Black women suffer disproportionately from loneliness compared to non-minorities because we are bombarded with the pressure from others to value our strength over the need for self-care to preserve our social, economic, and/or professional status.</p> <p>If we are expected to be strong 24/7 as Black women, when do we have time to be vulnerable? And who can we be vulnerable around?
